I just ordered some new lenses for the Nikon and I am getting pretty anxious for their arrival. I purchased a 24mm f/2.8D ED AF Nikkor ($300) and a 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor ($100), both Nikon refurbished lenses. I purchased the 24mm as a low-cost alternative to the 24-70mm f/2.8 since I rarely if ever use the zoom on my current lens since I shoot mainly landscapes and the optical quality of this fixed lens has been described as similar to the $2,000 beast. The 50mm is going to be primarily for astrophotography, nighttime architectural shots and portraits and other such nonsense. I will be sure to update this post once I get a chance to field test these lenses over the next couple weeks.
